It is located about 200KM north of Mexico City and the easiest way to get there is by car. If you are coming from Mexico City, you can take the Mexico-Toluca highway and then take the Mexico-Queretaro highway until you reach the exit for Ixmiquilpan. From there, you will need to follow the signs for Grutas de Tolantongo. There’ s ample parking throughout the park If you do not have a car, you can take a bus from Mexico City to Ixmiquilpan. Once you arrive in Ixmiquilpan, you can take a taxi or a local bus to Grutas de Tolantongo. This option could take up to 6 hours and could be tricky. Alternatively, rather than drive yourself, you can take a day trip from Mexico City either a group tour or a private tour.
