Incredible Experience
The whole experience is incredible and the views make it memorable. The trek is difficult, the viewpoint is at over 15000 feet. You need to get acclimatized to the high altitude. There are horses if you cannot hike which take you with in 200m from the viewpoint.
Bucket List
If you are Cusco, you cannot miss the Rainbow Mountain. Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain is a full day trip from Cusco. The drive to the trail head is about 3 Hrs. The hike up the peak takes 1.5Hrs and it is moderate to strenuous hike altitude hike (viewpoint at 16,600 ft.). The hike down is another hour with total roundtrip about 3 hours time.
If you cannot do this then there’s an easier alternate to the Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain. It is closed Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain. The distance is shorter and the hike is easier.
