Columbia Icefield is one of the largest icefields in the world and is home to six glaciers, with three of them visible from the parkway. Athabasca Glacier is one of the most accessible glaciers, located just walking distance from the parkway.

There are two options paid and free. You can take a Glacier Adventure tour where they take you on a bus and drive you on a glacier. You can get down and walk on a glacier. It also includes glass bottom skywalk experience. If you don’t want to pay for it, just park in the lower lot. Then a short, steep well marked hike leads you to the toe of the glacier.
