In addition, there are several real locations where Harry Potter movies were filmed. Hogwarts Express going over the popular Hogwarts bridge is in real life the Glenfinnan Viaduct in Scotland. The train runs from Fort William to Mallaig. From the train you can see the Hogwarts Lake (which appeared in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and also in Half Blood Prince). The real location of the lake is Loch Shiel in Scotland.

Victoria Street in Edinburgh, with its colorful shops and cobbled streets, is said to the inspiration for the Daigon Alley. Daigon House at 40 Victoria Street sells licensed Harry Potter products and merchandise.
Much of the Harry Potter Books early work was said to be done by J. K. Rowling in the cafes of Edinburgh, most notably Elephant House on George IV Bridge (just a short wlak from Victoria Street). There is a sign marking the birth place of Harry Potter there.
Just a short walk from Elephant Cafe is Spoon Cafe on Nicolson Street, which is was previously occupied by Nicolson Cafe and was co-owned by J.K. Rowling’ s Brother-in-Law. It is aid the Rowling’ s first Harry Potter book was written here. -
Kings Cross Station in London was the shooting location for platform 9-3/4. While in real like platform 9 and 10 are separated by railway tracks, in the movie the arched wall between platforms 4 and 5 was used as the platform 9-3/4. In the station you can now find platform 9 3/4 on the wall in the station Concourse in addition to a shop selling Harry Potter Merchandise.
