Parking is very limited, mostly by permit, closely watched for violations and is in a residential neighborhood. Visitors are encouraged to take public transport, ride-hailing service or park near Lake Hollywood park and hike from there.

One of the best places to get the up-close views of the sign with out hikes. It’s the small green gate you have to go through.
Up-close views without hikes
This is the closest you can get without hiking. However , parking is not possible near the spot and is actively monitored for violations. Better take a ride hailing service or hike from the Lake Hollywood Park. The access is through a green gate with a keypad near the intersection of Mulholland Highway and Deronda Drive. The gate is automatically unlocked between sunrise and sunsets. You can still exit after sunset.
