Machu Picchu is an 15th century Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains with panoramic views and with intriguing and wonderful construction.
Popular places, among others, include
i) Classic Viewpoint on the left near caretaker’s hut
ii) Main Plaza
iii) Temple of the Sun
iv) Temple of the three windows
v) Pricipal Temple
vi) Intihuatana
vii) Sacred Rock
viii) Temple of the Condor etc..
Outside of the main complex one can hike to the Sun Gate, Inca Bridge or do a strenuous hike (permit required) to the Huayna Picchu Peak.
It’s an incredible place and have been wanting to visit it for a while. It’s a long trip but totally worth it. You definitely got to experience it at least once in your lifetime.
Incredible Place
Incredible place and it didn’t disappoint. No wonder it’s a bucket-list place for many. The architecture, scenery, history, everything about the place is incredible.
Engineering Marvel at 8000 Feet
Dry Months are late May through early October. These months provide more probability of seeing Machu Picchu without fog, mist or rain.
Sunrise experience is awesome as first rays of sun hitting the Huayna Picchu and slowly lighting up the Machu Picchu.
To get there for sunrise, either you need to hike up or take the first bus from Aguas Calientas.
