Q & A
  • Aare Gorge is a narrow canyon between Meiringen and Innertkirchen in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. Aare River has carved out the gorge in the limestone which is 200m deep at some places and as narrow as one meter at the narrowest point.

The 1.4KM long path through the gorge can be easily hiked thanks to the walkways and tunnels. The gorge is open April through October and can be reached by car or through public transportation. Parking spaces for cars and coaches are available for visitors at the West entrance. There are direct hourly trains to the gorge from Interlaken and Lucerne. From Meiringen station, you can get to the Aare Gorge easily via the Meiringen–Innertkirchen Railway.
