Iconic cable cars of San Francisco are the world's last manually operated cable cars. There are three cable car lines in operation: Powell / Hyde Cable Car, Powell Mason Cable Car and California Cable Car. You can ride these at the turnarounds or one of the designated stops.

Riding the iconic cable car over the steep streets of San Francisco is a fun thing to do. Powell-Hyde cable car takes you to the popular fisherman’s wharf area.

Riding the historic cable car is a must do. There are three main lines. Two of them (Powell-Hyde and Powell-Mason) routes start at Powell & Market in downtown. Powell-Hyde takes you to Fisherman’s Wharf with views of Alcatraz Island. The Third one is California Cable Car , which goes on the steep streets of Nob Hill.
You can get on them at the end points or the intermediate stops. Intermediate stops are less crowded but you may not get your preferred seating spot.
