Covering over an area of 11,000 Sq. Km. , Salar de Uyuni is the world’s largest salt flat. It is a popular photo-spot for reflective and perspective photography. Decemeber-April is the typical wet season, where the salt flat doubles as the world’s largest reflecting mirror.
Long trip but worth It
Long time to reach the salt flats. Most people fly to La Paz as there are no direct international flights to Uyuni. Then either you have to wait several hours for your flight to Uyuni or take an eight hour bus.
There are several tour options for touring the salt flats. Typical 1-day tour won’t cover sunrise or sunset and 3-day tours include other attractions like lakes, desert etc. and they are one way tours.
Wet season is the popular season because of the amazing reflective photos but be aware that excessive rains in December and January may cause cancellations.
